A heartless 37 year old mother has been arrested by the lagos state police for allegedly throwing her one day old baby girl in the bush which resulted to her death.
The lady was caught when residents in the area were disturbed by the shrill cries of a baby coming from the bush, they immediately reported the matter to the Igando police station.
The baby was found in a black polythene bag covered in blood, a police woman attached to the juvenile section of the police station quickly bathed the baby who was now in critical condition after being in the sack for too long.
The police discovered upon investigation that the baby belonged to a 37 year old woman identified as Aderoju Ojelabi.She was caught when the police called a meeting of landlords in the area upon discovery of the baby. in one of the compounds,It was revealed that Aderoju was pregnant a day before and when asked about the child,she could not give a clear account of it's whereabouts.
When the heat became to much she confessed to putting the baby along with its placenta in polythene bag and dumping it in a bush on Novemeber 25th.
when questioned on her reason for the action, the ''baby killer'' stated that her boyfriend rejected the pregnancy and she was not financially capable to take care of the baby.
Policewomen were able to bathe the baby and even bought a shawl and wrapped it around her but because the baby was very little, they couldn’t do much so we rushed her to Igando General Hospital. Due to the severity of the case, the baby was transferred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja. However, the baby was transferred again to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, where she was confirmed dead.
