Osun State has declared today, Thursday 15th, November 2012  as public holiday to mark the first day of Hijrah Calendar. The Commissioner for Special duties and Regional integration, Ajibola Bashir, while making the declaration in Osogbo, the state capital said the step is to promote harmony in the state.


The first day of Hijrah Calendar signifies the beginning of a new year in the Muslim faithful’s lunar calendar.
