Gospel music king, Sammie Okposo has renounced his membership with the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON)
Okposo revealed that the lack of transparency and accountability of COSON spurred his decision to leave.
In a press release, Okposo stated that the COSON constitution did not make provisions for rotational Board Chairmanship, which he described as ‘extremely dangerous.’
‘The registration of COSON is commendable and may have set the Industry on the path to growth and consolidation but accountability and transparency is very important…there is nothing in COSON’s constitution that limits the number of terms the Chairman of the Board could serve and this is extremely dangerous,’The statement also disclosed that lack of transparency was the reason queen songstress, Onyeka Onwenu left COSON.
