The Nigerian police force has dispelled reports that the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed dikko Abubakar was sent on a terminal leave by president Jonathan.

The Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, CSP Frank Mba made this known on Thurday in a telephone SMS in which he said, the IGP was fully on his desk and had continued to discharge his duty.
“The Police High Command is not in receipt of any official communication from the appropriate government quarters informing the IGP of his inevitable glorious retirement from the Force. Therefore, IGP MD Abubakar, who was fully on his desk today, has continued to perform his official duties as the 16th Indigenous IGP".

Mba was apparently reacting to newspaper reports stating that the IGP Abubakar had been ordered to proceed on retirement leave and his immediate subordinate directed to act as IGP.
