King of Spain abdicates, hands over to son

The King of spain, Juan Carlos has abdicated and will hand over the throne to his son, prince Felipe.The announcement was made this morning by Spain's prime minister,Mariano Majoy.
King Juan came into power in 1975 and his recent abdication might be as a result of his tarnished image. The martriach has been involved in several scandals including an elephant shooting trip in Botswana that seriously affected his popularity and influence.
