Southern Kaduna was heavily attacked by armed insurgents yesterday afternoon. At least 40 people were killed in three villages in the Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.
The attackers first arrived in a village in the area called Kobin at about 1:20 pm tuesday afternoon ans started shooting at people sporadically. They continued their shooting spree until a contingent of the Nigerian army arrived. The military managed to capture some of the armed insurgents as they retreated.
Sources say the violence further escalated to another area called Gwantu as several people were also shot dead.
