Students of different polytechnics in Nigeria commenced on a massive 2 day protest on wednesday may 28th. They were protesting the closure of polytechnics in Nigeria due to the government’s failure to respond to demands of their lecturers.
That faithful wednesday they converged at the WAEC bus stop, Yaba College of Technology, Yaba Lagos at about 9 a.m.The students were so serious with the protest that they bought a cow for the event. The protest began and it was peaceful until they started approaching 3rd mainland bridge.it was here the Nigerian police struck.

They had taken several positions at the entrance into Third Mainland Bridge with an armored tank, and were aiming several canisters of teargas at the students. Some police officers also started shooting into the air.

The students immediately raised their hands, shouting to the police, “We are not fighting with you, we are students protesting peacefully.” This fel on deaf ears as the police fired teargas and released more bullets in the air. An eyewitness account reveals that about 38 female and 20 male students were whisked away in a black maria. They also seized their cow. After much criticisms online and several calls, the police released the detained students and the cow.

This did not deter them from converging again on Thursday morning which was democracy day.  The students protested and then slaughtered their cow to celebrate the conclusion of their 'peaceful protest'. See more pics below.....
