A violent riot went down today at the University of Uyo,Akwa Ibom. according to what i was able to gather, the students held a peaceful protest today because of expensive transportation in the the institution.On getting to the office of the Vice Chancellor, Overzealous security men prevented them from seeing the VC,Prof. Comfort Ekpo.
This angered the students who started hurling stones and sharp objects at the security officials. The police was called in, but instead of using teargas or any other riot control procedure, this policemen opened fire on the students,killing one instantly and injuring 4 others.
The students burnt down the VC's office and destroyed school property.
