The borno state government has decided to tackle the issue of illiteracy and disdain of education by paying parents to send their kids to school.

Governor of Borno, Kashim Shettima disclosed this on Sunday.

Shettima who blamed the Boko Haram insurgency for the poverty and ignorance in the state, disclosed that the state government was also working on plans to reconstruct the 825 classrooms destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents, to prepare grounds for the commencement of academic programmes in the affected schools.

Incase you don't know, most parents in Borno could not send their kids to schooln due to the Boko Haram insurgency.many of the children play around streets and major roads, some have started doing menial jobs.
