German passenger tied by aircraft crew for trying to smoke during flight

A German man, Mr. Mathias Jorg was tied on board an Emirates aircraft for trying to smoke during flight.

Jorg got violent after the airline staff stopped him from smoking. When the staff noticed he couldn't be calmed, they wrestled him down and tied him up.

He was on a 7.5 hour flight from Singapore to Brisbane. Immediately the plane landed brosbane, Jorg was taken into Police Custody.

Brisbane Magistrates Court later the same day, charged with one count of smoking on an aircraft, one count of assaulting crew and one count of assaulting crew affecting the performance of their duty. He was granted bail after handing over his passport and promising not to get 100 metres close to any airport of International departure.
