A 7 year old boy, Zane Gbangbola was confirmed dead after he was found unconscious along with his family in their flooded home.
Zane and his father, Kye Gbangbola, 48, were discovered during a rescue in Chertsey, Surrey, yesterday.
It is understood that Zane’s mother, identified as Nicole Lawler, 36, was also taken to the nearby St Peter’s Hospital, but did not require treatment.
Police are investigating whether carbon monoxide fumes from a pump being used to clear water from the home were responsible for the tragic death.Mr Gbangbola is said to have bought three pumps to drain water from his basement in recent weeks and had complained to friends about the authorities poor response to the flooding.
A further 17 people, including a number of police officers, also underwent medical checks after complaining of feeling unwell.
Elizabeth Anionwu, the co-founder of the Sickle Cell society, of which Mr Gbangola was chairman told The Sunday Times: 'He is a wonderful family man and a wonderful father.'
Mr Gbangbola runs an eco-management consultancy firm called Total Eco Management, with his partner Miss Lawler.
