On Tuesday June 17th, God remembered 75 inmates of Kirikiri maximum prisons, lagos as they were released by the Chief Judge of Lagos state, Justice Ayotunde Phillips. Seventy-one of the inmates were released from the medium section of the prison, three were released from the maximum facility and one from the female prisons.
Justice Ayotunde who is to retire on the 25th of July admonished the pardoned inmates to “go and sin no more.”
“I really don’t know what more I could have done as a person to reduce the number of awaiting trial inmates.They form the bulk of the number of persons in our prisons today and we need to go back to the drawing board to see how we can reduce it,”
