Former leader, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has ripped president Goodluck Jonathan in an interview with Bloomberg TV Africa, Yesterday Saturday May 31st.He accused the president of responding slowly to the kidnap of the Chibok girls.
OBJ stated that President Jonathan had doubts about the kidnap when he was informed about it and waited 18 days before responding.He revealed that the President's first reaction to the incident was to ask this;
“‘Is this true, or is it a ploy by people who don’t want me to be president again?’”.
Baba did not stop there, he added that Jonathan's "lethargic approach to the kidnapping was the “most unfortunate aspect of the whole issue". He said,
“The president did not believe that those girls were abducted for almost 18 days, if the president got the information within 12 hours of the act and he reacted immediately, I believe those girls would have been rescued within 24 hours, maximum 48 hours.He then killed the whole interview with this statement:
“I don’t believe he has performed to the expectations of many Nigerians, not just me"
This is not the first time Obasanjo is assaulting President Goodluck Jonathan through the media, In December 2013, the Nigerian social media was abuzz with an 18 page letter OBJ wrote to the president firing him with several allegations of improper leadership and nepotism.
