A major bomb attack has been averted by officers of the Gombe state police command yesterday, July 7th.

A vehicle laden with several explosives was intercepted close to Government day secondary school around 10am when graduating secondary school students were writing their final Mathematics paper, for the National Examinations Council NECO.
According to the state police commmissioner, Kudu Nma, the attack would have been devastating, as it was planned to hit targets within 800 square meters radius.Nma reveals that the Vehicle, a Honda Odyssey had rammed into the fence of the school and would have exploded if not for the timely intervention of the police.

The Vehicle contained the following :Three long fabricated gas cylinders of improvised explosive devices IEDs, two short fabricated cylinders of IEDs, three military tool boxes fabricated into IEDs, two military ammunition boxes fabricated into IEDs and a silver vacuum flask, also fabricated into IED among others.
