I don't know why?...but some folks have not really been happy with his ministerial appointment. Many believe he is not really qualified for the Job but who knows?..he might just shock all of them.
The newly appointed Minister for the Federal Ministry of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has pledged his determination and commitment to work assiduously to achieve the statutory mandates of the Federal Ministry of Education in order to justify the Government’s enormous investments in the sector.Mallam Shekarau said this during his maiden familiarization meeting with members of the management team of the Federal Ministry of Education when he formally assumed office as the new Minister.
The Minister, who had earlier served as the Executive Governor of Kano State for 8 years, remarked that “Education is one of the central and vital sectors in a nation, therefore all hand must be on deck to realize its objectives”
He thanked the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Chief (Bar) Nyesom Wike, for his efforts and promised to synergize with him, the Permanent Secretary and all the staff to frontally confront the enormous challenges facing the education sector to ensure success.
Earlier, the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Chief (Bar.) Nyesom Wike had formally welcomed the new Minister and pledged his full cooperation and support. He noted that with new Minister’s background as a former Teacher, Civil Servant and former Governor, it is a clear case of putting the proverbial round peg in a round hole.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. MacJohn Nwaobiala, in welcoming the Minister, informed him that the Ministry has a large staff strength in the Federal Civil Service, with 18,000 staff and 16 Directors, in addition to several Parastatals and Special Agencies.
He pledged the allegiance of the management of the Ministry to Mallam Shekarau, also saying that he believes that working as a team the education sector will get the necessary push to take it to the higher levels.
