Meriam Ibrahim, the now popular sudanese mother of 2 who was put on death row for refusing to convert to Islam has arrived in the US.
Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag arrived in Philadelphia on Thursday evening with her American husband and her children, en route to New Hampshire where they hope to settle down.
Welcoming her, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter described her as a "world freedom fighter".He also said people would remember her just like "others who stood up so we could be free".
Meriam was freed after intense pressure on the Sudanese government by the international community.
