A carpenter has been sentenced to 16 months in prsion for breaking into an ATM machine belonging to First bank Nigeria Plc.

At 2.am on the 21st of september, Jamilu hassan, walked into the First Bank branch at Rukkayat Plaza, Jabi by Conoil in Utako, Abuja,completely dismantled an ATM and stole money amounting to N6.88 million. According to him, he learnt how to break into ATM's from google using a friend's phone.

He succeeded in switching off the CCTV before beginning his dangerous act. Trouble came when he was unable to leave the banking hall because of the security men who sat close to the entrance, he resorted to locking himself up in the toilet.

He was slammed with the 16 month prison sentence at an Abuja Grade 2 Area Court in Kado on Tuesday.
